Competencies are vital to personal and social success in all fields of our lives, this way it wouldn't be different with learning languages. In order to learn a new idiom the learner must develop some core competencies. These are the sets of intellectual, personal, and social and emotional proficiencies that all students need to develop in order to engage in deeper learning. One of the core competencies to be developed by a learner of a second language is the communication competency, which encompasses the set of abilities that students use to impart and exchange information, experiences and ideas when exploring the world around them. Many language programs choose to focus on communicative skills at first once it is the bridge between students' learning, their personal and social identity and relationships, and the world in which they interact. Next time we will discuss a bit on communicative skills, see you then!
