Still in time ! 2020 !

We are all reinventing ourselves during these challenging times. For Language Teachers wouldn't be any different. I would like to share with you some activities adpated for the virtual classes.

Well, speaking interactions are of paramount importance to the language learner, once we have tons of free content for language self-study. They are excellent tools to support the teacher's job. So, here, let's share ideas which will help with this new teacher's role and environment ! Hope you enjoy this series of posts!!!

Speaking practice for Low intermediate and above

15-30 minutes

function: asking questions

choose a relevant topic (according to your classes, for example, talk about a job, a bank, a hospital, a project or whatever you are working with)

one student will remember an experience with your help asking 'yes' & 'no' questions about it - and he or her should pay close attention to the answers.

You (or another student in case of groups) will aswer the 'yes' & 'no' questions following the rule: questions ending with the letters AEIOU or Y are to be answered 'yes', and those ending with consonants 'no'. The manner in which the dream develops depends entirely on the questions.

for example: Was it a nightmare? (yes)

was it a bad dream? (no)

Did I see a member of my family? (yes)

Did I know the person? (no)

After a while, the student should retell what was finally remembered. The student can take notes or challenge his or her memory.

Acknowledgments: I got this idea from Susan Davies and Christopher Sion.
